Jim Kajiya

James Thomas Kajiya ( * 1951 ) is a pioneer in the field of computer graphics. In a paper presented in 1986, he showed that all can be directly from a common base, the rendering equation derived to date widespread rendering techniques. In addition, he is considered the inventor of the Path tracing, an algorithm for image synthesis, which allows the simulation of global illumination.

Kajiya received his PhD in 1979 at the University of Utah. In the same year he became a lecturer at Caltech, which he left in 1994. Today he works as a researcher at Microsoft Research.
