Jim Kelly (martial artist)

Jim Kelly (actually James M. Kelly, born May 5, 1946 in Paris, Kentucky, † June 29, 2013 in San Diego ) was an American karateka and actor.

Life

Kelly was already during his school years of successful athletes in various disciplines; his biggest successes came as a karateka, what sport he had begun at the University of Louisville. As a karate instructor, he taught Calvin Lockhart for a to-play of this film roll and so came to own first engagement as a performer.

After the success of Enter the Dragon, he received a contract for some movies at Warner Brothers. Until the late 1970s, he played regularly in blaxploitation films, then occasionally roles in international productions.

Kelly remained true to the sport and became a professional in the senior tennis players as well as coaches for this sport. In June 2013 he died of cancer.
