Jim Sensenbrenner

Frank James "Jim" Sensenbrenner, Jr. ( born June 14, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois ) is an American politician of the Republican Party, who represents the fifth electoral district of the state of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Following his studies in political science at Stanford University (Bachelor 1965) he obtained in 1968 his PhD in Law at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and he began to practice as a lawyer.

From 1969 to 1975 Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin State Assembly belonged to; then he sat between 1975-1979 in the State Senate. Finally, he was elected as a deputy in the Congress in November 1978, which he belongs to the present time.

In 2001 he was elected chairman of the justice committee of the House of Representatives. The chair he held until 2007. Previously, he was already 1997 to 2001 Chairman of the Science Committee of the House of Representatives.

USA PATRIOT Act

Sensenbrenner was one of the initiators of the USA PATRIOT Act. On 23 October 2001 he laid the bill as HR3162 Congress to vote before, which was approved by Congress on October 24. A day later, the Act was passed on to the Senate, which also took him on.
