Jindřichohradecké místní dráhy

Jindřichohradecké místní Railways a.s. ( JHMD ) is a private railway company in the Czech Republic. The corporation was founded by railroad enthusiasts since 1998, owner and operator of the narrow-gauge branch lines Jindřichův Hradec Hradec - Nová Obrataň and Jindřichův Bystřice in South Bohemia.

History

The JHMD was founded by railroad enthusiasts on 19 September 1994 in Prague. In January 1995, the new company was registered in the local commercial register.

The company operating from then on the narrow gauge railways of Jindřichův Hradec tourist trains during the summer months. Only when on January 25, 1997 Railways of the regular trains on the branch to Nové Bystřice by the State Railway České ( ČD ) has been set, the company also applied to a takeover of both routes. On 28 February 1998 finally went both narrow gauge railways over for a symbolic price of 1 Kč to the JHMD.

JHMD operates since then on both route branches both public transport as well as a tourist nostalgia traffic with historical vehicles.

In 1999, the JHMD took over from NADAS the only manufacturer in the Czech Republic for Edmondsonsche Pappfahrkarten. The print shop is located since 2000 in Kamenice nad Lipou. The tickets are produced both for their own needs, but also for museum railways and the nostalgia of the state railway traffic ČD.

Since 2009 JHMD is also the operator of the seasonal movement of people on the standard gauge routes Čížkovice - Obrnice ( Švestková dráha ) and Kaštice / Vilémov - Kadan - Prunéřov ( Doupovská dráha ) in the Ústí nad Labem Region.

Locomotives and cars

Diesel locomotives and railcars

The JHMD took over in 1997 a total of 11 locomotives of the series 705.9 ( 47.0 ČSD T ) of the České Railways. These locomotives were the mid-1950s has been specifically designed for the narrow gauge railways in the ČSD of CKD in Prague. At the time of taking over almost all of these locomotives were already over 40 years old and thus reached the limit of their service life. To ensure continued operation of these locomotives, the JHMD made ​​a part of the locomotives at ŽOS Česká Třebová fundamentally modernize. Besides replacing the diesel engine and the complete electrical equipment including the traction generator was replaced.

More recently, the JHMD acquired several used vehicles by Polish narrow gauge railways. In addition to a locomotive of the Romanian type FAUR L45H are including two railcars of PKP series MBxd2.

Steam locomotives

Before the nostalgia trains the JHMD also employ steam locomotives. In addition to vehicles of the National Technical Museum in Prague there are also three of its own locomotives used. Two of the locomotives were acquired more recently in Poland and Romania.

Car

Today are for the regular passenger trains only four-axle passenger car design Balm / u available that were manufactured in the 1960s by CKD in Prague. The cars have hard padded benches, closed end platforms, sliding windows and its own oil heating.

The freight is handled with dollies that were made ​​in the 1980s by the wagon factory Poprad. Some four-axle narrow gauge freight cars used in particular as a bicycle carriage in the passenger trains.

For the nostalgia traffic is also a historic train in the style of ČSD available.
