Jinmaku Kyūgorō

Jimmaku Kyūgorō jap阵 幕 久 五郎; ( May 3 in 1829 Ou -gun, Izumo Province (now Higashiizumo, Shimane prefecture) as Ishigura Shintaro (石 仓 槇 太郎), † October 21, 1903 ) was a Japanese sumo wrestler and the twelfth Yokozuna.

Jimmaku began in November, 1850 as a wrestler for the stable Hidenoyama - Beya his career and reached in January 1859, the Makuuchi division. 1867, 1.77 m wide and 120 -pound fighter was promoted to yokozuna after he had ever won in November 1866 and April 1867 a tournament. Overall Jinmaku was in his career five times winner of the tournament, but only once as a yokozuna, because he denied ever only one tournament as such. Even in his appointment year Jinmaku resigned because of the onset of chaos of the Meiji Restoration.

It is also remarkable that Jinmaku undertook a first compilation of all the yokozuna in old age. His list served as the basis for published by Sumōverband 1926 lineup.
