The Karachi / Jinnah International Airport, also Karachi airport or airport Jinnah International (English Jinnah International Airport ) (previously Quaid -e -Azam International Airport, IATA Code: KHI, ICAO code: OPKC; Urdu جناح انٹرنیشنل ایئرپورٹ ) is Pakistan's largest international and domestic airport. It is located northeast of Karachi, the largest city of Pakistan in the province of Sindh and was built in 1929. The name of the airport is reminiscent of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

The airport is aviation hub for the flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines ( PIA) and other smaller companies.

Airport infrastructure

The airport has two runways and starting at an altitude of 30 m above sea level and has 16 gates. Airport operator is the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. Here theoretically 30 aircraft can be handled simultaneously, each year 6 million passengers handled (from 12 million possible ).

The airport has one main terminal, which in two halls (English: grand concourse ) is divided. The Jinnah East Satellite Concourse is used for international flights, while domestic flights are handled at the Jinnah West Satellite Concourse.
