Jiřetín pod Bukovou

Jiřetín pod Bukovou ( German George Thal ) is a municipality in the Liberec Region in the Czech Republic. She is a member in the micro-region Kamenice and Euro region Neisse.

Geography

Jiřetín pod Bukovou located in the Jizera Mountains at the foot of Buková (Book Mountain, 837 m) on the right bank of the Kamnitz ( Kamenice ).

History

The first written record comes from the tax roll of 1654th Albrecht Maximilian Desfours founded in 1662 in the region of the communities that comprise its name and incorporated Morchenstern ( Smržovka ) as independent from.

Previously, the names Geörgthal, Geörgensberg, Girgenthal and Jergnstol for George Thal were common.

1892 Daniel Swarovski invented a glass grinding machine and wandered from 1895 to Wattens ( Tyrol). 1908-1945 was here the company Johann Schowanek resident, which temporarily employed more than 1,300 people.
