Jiřice (Pelhřimov District)

Jiřice ( German Jirschitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers north-west of Vlašim and belongs to Okres Pelhřimov.

Geography

Jiřice is located on the hill Vaňkův Kopec (590 m ) in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. In the north and east, the route of the D1 motorway passes, the next exit is Koberovice.

Neighboring towns are Haj and Horni Rapotice in the north, and Brunka Světlický Dvůr in the northeast, Humpolec in the southeast, Hněvkovice in the south, Močidla in the southwest, and Petro Vice Lhotka in the west and Speřice and Radostin in the northwest.

History

The place was founded by the Premonstratensian Želiv. Built in the Grenzwald Borek village is named after its locator. The first mention was made in 1226 in the certificate of ownership document of the monastery by Honorius III. as Velké Juřice.

1860 lived in Jiřice about 600 people and in the middle of the 20th century there were about 1000 that their livelihood primarily earned in the textile factories of Humpolec and beside still operated small farming.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Jiřice Jiřice ( Jirschitz ) Močidla ( Mocidla ) and Speřice ( Sperschitz ) and the local situation Radostín.

Attractions

  • James the Greater Church, originally Gothic building from 1350 was extended by a vestry in the middle of the 17th century. 1772 was a rebuilding of the ship, in 1803, the choir was redesigned and 1905 saw the construction of the neo-gothic tower.
