The Jiyugaoka Station (Japanese自由が丘 駅, -eki Jiyugaoka ) is located in Meguro in Tokyo Prefecture, Japan. The station is located at the Toyoko - and at the Oimachi line that intersect here. Both lines are operated by the Tōkyū. In 2008, took advantage of a daily average of close to 140,000 people the station.

History

The station today Toyoko Line was opened on 28 August 1927. On November 1, 1929 the Oimachi line went into operation. The lines were electrified from the start.

From 2005 to 2007 escalators were installed in the station. As of 28 March 2008 on the wrong Oimachi Line express trains, for which the platforms had to be extended, since 6-car sets should be used. With inclusion of the continuous operation of the Toyoko line on the Fukutoshin line of Tōkyō Metro, which is planned for 2012, including the platforms of this line will be extended to offer 10 - car trains space.

Design and tracks

The station is designed as a tower station. In the lower level of the trains Oimachi Line hold on two of the platforms. West of the station is located on this line a track change and two sidings. The upper level of the trains running on a viaduct Toyoko Line has two island platforms. Usually the trains use the middle track. The outer tracks are used for Zugüberholungen by express trains that take place here on schedule. Outside the station buses stop several lines of Tōkyū.

Use

In 2008, the station from an average of 139 675 passengers was used on the day. Accounted for on the Toyoko Line 92 323 passengers on the Oimachi Line 47,352 passengers. The train station which was on 7th and 2nd place at the user numbers of the respective lines.
