JK Tallinna Kalev

The Tallinna Kalev Jalgpalliklubi is an Estonian football club from the capital Tallinn. The club is named a hero of the national epic Kalevipoeg by Kalev. The venue is the Kalevi Keskstaadion, which has a capacity of 12,000 spectators.

History

The club was founded in 1911. In the years 1923 and 1930, the Estonian championship was won. Between 1947 and 1963 they played in the football system of the Soviet Union. In the seasons 1960 and 1961 the club introduced the first and only Estonian team that participated in the highest league of the Soviet Union in the game mode. At the end of the season 1963, the club was disbanded. Finally, 2002 was the start-up. As the third Esiliiga they reached the play-offs 2006 against Tulevik Viljandi, second-bottom of the Meistriliiga. Kalev won out and climbed on. 2009 was the descent into the Esiliiga. After two years of abstinence Kalev returns to the 2012 back in the Meistriliiga.
