Joachim Fischer (sociologist)

Joachim Fischer ( * 1951 in Hanover) is a German sociologist. The focus of his work are in the areas of sociological theory and social philosophy as well as in cultural sociology, philosophical anthropology, sociology of architecture.

Joachim Fischer studied German, sociology, philosophy, political science at the Universities of Hannover, Giessen, Tübingen and Göttingen. He received his Ph.D. in 1997 in Göttingen, and habilitated in 2010 at the Philosophical Faculty of the Technical University of Dresden ( thesis: The Other and the third to the foundation of social theory. ). Since the winter semester 2009 he takes guest professorships and of General Sociology and Cultural Sociology true ( University of Erlangen -Nuremberg, University of Halle -Wittenberg, European University Frankfurt ( Oder), University of Innsbruck ). He is since 2011 President of Helmuth Plessner society.
