Joachim Martin Falbe

Joachim Martin Falbe (* June 11, 1709 in Berlin, † March 22, 1782 ) was a German portrait painter, etcher and draftsman and Prussian court painter.

Life

Joachim Martin Falbe started his apprenticeship in 1730 at Johann Harper and completed the training painter from 1733 Antoine Pesne whose master student he was. On Pesnes agency Dun was employed at the court of Prince August Ludwig of Anhalt- Köthen, who appointed him on his departure in 1739 to his court painter.

Back in Prussia, he was awarded the royal court painter in the same year. From 1756 to 1782 was Falbe honorary member of the Berlin Royal Prussian Academy of Arts and Sciences mechanical, Section for the Fine Arts. Joachim Martin Falbe worked for 15 years in Antoine Pesnes workshop.
