Joachim Wtewael

Joachim Anthonisz. Wtewael (* 1566 in Utrecht, † August 1, 1638 ) was a Dutch painter.

Life

The son of the glass painter Anthony Jansz. Wtewael (pronounced Utewaal ) spent most of his life in Utrecht. Handed down by Karel van Mander he worked until his 18th year as a glass painter with his father and then went for two years in the workshop of the painter Joos de Beer ( died before 1595 ) a. He then went with the Bishop of Saint- Malo, Charles de Bourgneuf de Cucé, initially for two years after Padua and then for a further two years after France.
