Jóan Símun Edmundsson ( born July 26, 1991 Toftir ) is a Faroese football player who plays for AB Argir and the Faroese national team.

Association

Edmundsson began his career at B68 Toftir, where he in 2008 at the age of seventeen, played for the first team and counted from the start of the regular players. In the cup he gave his debut in the second round at the 1:2 away defeat against B71 Sandur, where he played through the entire game. In the first division he made his debut on the opening day against Víkingur Gøta from the start and was replaced in the 80th minute for Jónleif Højgaard, the game was away lost with 1:4. His first goal he succeeded in the League on Matchday against KÍ Klaksvík to a 1-1 draw.

In September 2009 Edmundsson completed a four-day training with Manchester City, with other British and Scandinavian clubs expressed interest in him. In December 2009, he moved on loan to the youth academy of Newcastle United. In the summer of 2010 Edmundsson signed a long-term contract with the Magpies. His professional debut for Newcastle, he celebrated in a friendly match against Norwich City.

After Edmundsson first aground for the reserve team of Newcastle United, he was awarded in January 2011 to FC Gateshead, who played in the Conference National to get more match practice. His first league game he played on the 29th match day 2-2 draw with Kidderminster Harriers and this completed the entire season. Overall, he ran in five games for the club, after his return to Newcastle, there were no further operations in the first team.

2012 graduated Edmundsson a trial with Norwegian first division side Viking Stavanger, where he was able to convince in a test match, and was committed in mid-February for the next two years. His first competitive match, he completed on Matchday in away match against Strømsgodset Toppfotball. when he came on in the 62nd minute for the final score of 0:1 King Gyan. In his second game for Viking he played on the tenth match, from the outset against Tromsø IL and was replaced at half-time by 0-3 to Yann- Erik de Lanlay, the game ended 1:5. In September 2012, Edmundsson was loaned to the Danish second division club FC Fredericia. Beginning of 2014, he signed a contract with AB Argir and thus returned back to the Faroe Islands.

National

Edmundsson is currently plaing for national player of the Faroe Islands and went through before the U -17, U -19 and U- 21st As the second best scorer of the U -21 with three hits he made his debut on 9 June 2009 at the European Championship qualifier against Russia in Tórshavn, in which he scored the winning goal to make it 1-0. His debut in the senior team, he was on 12 August 2009 in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in the 0-1 defeat against France in Tórshavn when he came on in the 29th minute for Christian L. Holst. Its been a goal for the senior team, he scored 11 August 2010 in Tallinn for a 1-0 lead in the 1-2 defeat against Estonia in qualifying for Euro 2012, it was the very first goal in qualifying.
