Joane is a Freguesia ( dt: Municipality ) and Vila ( dt: small city) in the north of Portugal.
History
Joane was first officially mentioned in 1065th The name goes way back on a country estate dating from Roman times, the local villa rustica of the landowner Joannem.
On July 3, 1986 Joane was raised to the small town ( Vila ).
Management
Joane belongs to the circle ( concelho ) of Vila Nova de Famalicão in Braga District, has an area of 7.3 km ² and has 8076 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011).

The football club Grupo Desportivo de Joane Founded in 1930, plays its home matches at the 3,500 -seat Estadio de Barreiros. The club plays in the 2013/14 season in the group match Série B of the third division in Portugal, the Campeonato Nacional de Seniores.
