Life

João Bosco comes from a musical family. His mother and sister played violin and piano. Even as a 13 - year-old boy he made his mark as a singer and acoustic guitarist and formed his own band. His passion at that time was the Rock ' n ' Roll from Elvis to Little Richard. In the 1960s he studied in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais engineering. Musically, he took then a swivel in the direction of Bossa Nova, which was very fashionable at that time. By chance Bosco met the poet Vinícius de Moraes, whom he visited in Rio de Janeiro. Several common songs ( Rosa dos Ventos, Samba do Pouso and O Mergulhador ) emerged.

In Rio de Janeiro, João Bosco also learned the psychiatrist and song lyricist Aldir Blanc know. After completing his studies João Bosco moved all over to Rio de Janeiro. An extremely successful collaboration began. The Bossa Nova, however, was now much less popular, so that the " Mineiro " and the " Carioca " were forced to develop their own musical form.

The first joint success had the duo Bosco / Blanc 1972 with the composition " Bala com Bala ," which started the singer Elis Regina at the time and contributed so much to the reputation of the piece. A first own LP followed in 1973.

The big breakthrough for João Bosco as a singer and guitarist was followed in 1982 with the LP " Commissão de Frente ". The title describes a group at the Carnival parade. The record sold very well. The musician masters stylistically a wide range such as ballads, samba, rock and bossa nova. In addition to the brilliant technique on the acoustic guitar João Bosco distinguishes a remarkable voice. He often employs a scat singing, percussive with a strong Afro-Brazilian staining. Many of the pieces João Bosco characterized by a sweeping swing.

The texts of the songs of the duo Bosco / Blanc deal with the people and their daily lives. Here, a highly colloquial jargon is used, the Portuguese-speaking, non- Brazilians are not able to always follow immediately.
