João Vieira (athlete)

João Paulo Garcia Vieira ( born February 20, 1976 in Portimão ) is a Portuguese -goers.

At the 2000 Olympic Games João Vieira was in the 20 km walk. Four years later in Athens, he was tenth in 2004 and in Beijing in 2008, he finished 32nd.

At the European Athletics Championships, he finished 1998 ranked 20th in Budapest, 2002 in Munich, he was twelfth and 2006 in Gothenburg he succeeded with national record of 1:20:09 h winning the bronze medal. João Vieira is so beside the race walker Susana feitor the only walkers Portugal, at the international championships winning a medal succeeded.

After Vieira had in Berlin reached the tenth place finish at the World Athletics Championships in 2009, he could repeat his 2006 success at the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona, and again won the bronze medal. At the World Championships 2013 in Moscow, he was fourth.

Over 20 km of Vieira was eleven times Portuguese champion (1996, 1999-2007, 2009), about 50 km in 2004 and 2008.

João Sérgio Vieira twin brother is also an internationally active walker.
