Joaquín Piña Batllevell

Joaquín Piña Batllevell SJ ( born May 25, 1930 in Sabadell, † July 8, 2013 in Buenos Aires ) was Bishop of Puerto Iguazú.

Life

He entered the Society of Jesus and was ordained priest on 10 December 1961. He was sent to Paraguay, where he worked intensively on social work for farmers and the formation of agricultural societies promoted that had arisen in land issues against the Stroessner regime.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 16 June 1986 Bishop of Puerto Iguazú. The Bishop of Posadas, Jorge Kemerer SVD, consecrated him on 16 August of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Celso Yegros Estigarribia, Bishop of Carapeguá, and Miguel Esteban Hesayne, Bishop of Viedma.
