Jocelyn Deane

Jocelyn Deane (* 1749, † November 19, 1780 ) was an Irish politician.

Life

Jocelyn Deane was the second son of Robert Deane, 5th Baronet and his wife Charlotte (nee Tilson ). He attended college Christ Church, University of Oxford.

From 1773 to 1780 he was a member of the Irish House of Commons. At the general election in 1780 he was a candidate in the constituency of Helston for a seat in the British House of Commons. Deane was indeed elected, but was unable to take his seat, as the correctness of the election of deputies has been questioned for the constituency of Helston and he was confirmed by his early death posthumously as a deputy. In February 1781, the Commission of the relevant House of Commons, that was his choice properly decided. Deane " represented " thus the constituency of Helston thus from 12 September to 19 November 1780 the House of Commons. Deane died unmarried and childless. Robert Deane, 1st Baron Muskerry was his younger brother.
