Joe Bellino

Joseph Michael Bellino ( born March 13, 1938 in Winchester, Massachusetts ) is a former American football player.

He was active as a halfback for the crew of the United States Naval Academy from 1958 to 1960 in College Football, for which he also played baseball beyond. In his last year in which he participated with the team after a season with nine wins and one defeat in the Orange Bowl, he was named the best college football player with the Heisman Trophy and the Maxwell Award and selected to the All American. He was so in the history of the Navy Midshipmen, the first and, along with Roger Staubach one of two Heisman winners.

Joe Bellino was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1977. His jersey number 27 is no longer awarded in his honor at the Navy Midshipmen.
