Joe Lewis (British businessman)

Joe Lewis ( born February 5, 1937) is a British entrepreneur.

Life

At 15, Lewis left school and worked in the family business of his father, a catering service. Later in the 1970s he sold this company. Lewis is the majority shareholder in the investment company Tavistock Group, which over the ENIC Group includes 85 % stake in the English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. At the British company Mitchells & Butlers is the majority shareholder.

He earned his fortune through financial speculation in the 1980s and 1990s, including in the sterling crisis in 1992. Lewis belongs, according to the U.S. Forbes Magazine's richest British.

Lewis lives in Albany, Bahamas. He is married to his second wife and has two children.
