Joe Skubitz

Joe Skubitz ( born May 6, 1906 in Frontenac, Crawford County, Kansas; † 11 September 2000 in Wichita, Kansas ) was an American politician.

Skubitz attended Kansas State College in Pittsburg, where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1929, and in 1934 his Master of Science. He attended the 1938 Law School Washburn University in Topeka, and later the Law School of George Washington University in Washington DC, where he in 1944 received his Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ). In the same year Skubitz was admitted to the legal profession, and began in Kansas and the District of Columbia to practice as a lawyer.

Skubitz was from 1939 to 1949 worked as an assistant for Senator Clyde M. Reed and 1949-1962 for Senator Andrew Schoeppel. At the Republican National Convention in 1960, he participated as a delegate. In the 1962 congressional election Skubitz was elected as a Republican to Congress and represented there from 3 January 1963 until his resignation on December 31, 1978 the State of Kansas in the House of Representatives of the United States. At the midterm elections in 1978 Skubitz took no further part. He died on 11 September 2000 in Wichita and was buried at the local Old Mission Cemetery.
