Joel Shankle

Joel Warren Shankle ( born March 2, 1933 Fines Creek ) is a former American track and field athlete.

Shankle attended Duke University and 1955 NCAA champion in the long jump and third in the AAU championships in the decathlon. He celebrated his greatest success at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne. There he won the bronze medal behind his compatriots Lee Calhoun and Jack Davis in the 110- meter hurdles.

Joel Shankle is 1,93 m tall and had a competition weight of 79 kg. After the end of his athletic career was pilot at American Airlines.
