Joey Woody

Joey Woody ( May 22nd, 1973 in Iowa City ) is an American track and field athlete.

The 400 -meter hurdles runner Woody could be up to 1997 do not qualify for major international competitions, but this year he finished third at the U.S. Championships and qualified for the World Championships in Athletics in 1997 in Athens. At the World Championships he then eliminated in the semifinals.

He was American vice-champion in 1999 and at the World Athletics Championships in 1999 in Seville he improved to sixth place.

In 2000 he achieved a respectable result. Together with Karl Paranya, Rich Kenah and David Krummacker he presented with a time of 7:13,94 min on an indoor world record in the rarely overflowed 4 x 800 - meter relay.

At the U.S. Trials for the 2000 Olympic Games he was in fourth place and could not qualify for the Games in Sydney. This disappointment threw it back over the years. It was not until 2003 he was back for the World Athletics Championships qualify in Paris in 2003 and surprisingly won the silver medal in the final as the best American behind the world champion Félix Sánchez. This was the greatest success of his career.
