Johan Bruyneel

Johan Bruyneel ( born August 23, 1964 in Izegem, Belgium ) is a Belgian former professional cyclist and Cycling Manager.

Career

Bruyneel was 1989-1998 cyclist. He won in this period a total of 29 cycling races, including two stages of the Tour de France.

After finishing his career as a driver, he was sports director of the U.S. Postal Service team ( later Discovery Channel ) by Lance Armstrong. During this time, Armstrong won the Tour de France seven times.

After the dissolution of the team he was hired by the team Astana. For the 2010 season, he joined the newly formed Team RadioShack, which was built for the 2012 season in the team Leopard Trek. He took over the team merged RadioShack -Nissan the position of General Manager.

In October 2012, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency USADA released the results of its investigation into doping Armstrong. The report stated that, run by Bruyneel U.S. Postal team (later Discovery Channel ) have operated the most sophisticated, most professional and most successful doping program in sports history. The report included incriminating statements of eleven former riders including Frankie Andreu, Tyler Hamilton, George Hincapie, Floyd Landis, Levi Leipheimer, which the use of erythropoietin ( EPO), blood transfusions, testosterone and other banned substances and methods described by the team on 22 October saw the world cycling federation UCI on this basis, all the results obtained by Armstrong since 1 August 1998 for doping from, including all seven Tour de France victories.
