Johan Kriek

Johan Kriek ( born April 5, 1958 in Pongola ) is a former South African tennis player who in 1982 took the U.S. citizenship. Already in the years before he came into office under the U.S. flag.

The highest position he reached as a tennis player on the world ranking 7th place His was two biggest successes were the victories at the Australian Open in 1981 and 1982. He profited, however, the fact that many world-class tennis players shied away from the long journey. Overall, he won in his career 14 singles and 8 doubles titles.

In 2005 he founded, based in Johannesburg non-profit organization Global Water Foundation, which advocates the provision of clean drinking water in needy regions. Together with his wife Daga Mrozek Kriek he runs a tennis academy in Charlotte. The couple has a son and a daughter.
