Johann Adam Pupikofer

Johann Adam Pupikofer ( born March 17, 1797 in sub - Tuttwil at Wängi; † July 28, 1882 in Frauenfeld ) was a Swiss historian and Protestant clergyman.

From 1821 to 1861 he worked as a helper in Bischofszell. Subsequently, he managed the State Archives and the State Library in Frauenfeld.

Pupikofer was known for his history of the Thurgau ( first edition in two volumes, 1828-1830 ). Pupikofer authored a wealth of writings on the history of the Thurgau and the Lake Constance region.

Pupikofer was one of the bibliophile Joseph of Laßberg closest friends.

In 1872 he received the Dr. H.C. of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Zurich.
