Johann Georg Rosenmüller

Johann Georg Müller Rose ( born December 18, 1736, in Ummerstadt in Hildburghausen, † March 14, 1815 in Leipzig ) was a German Protestant theologian rationalist.

Rose Müller studied from 1756 theology at the University of Altdorf. In 1767 he became pastor in 1768 in Hildburghausen and Heßberg in Hildburghausen. He was a deacon in 1772 and adjoint superintendent in Königsberg ( Bavaria) and 1773 professor and pastor in Erlangen. In 1783 he accepted an appointment as professor, Pädagogiarchen, superintendents and Konsistorialassessor in Giessen.

In 1785 he was professor at Leipzig University and president of the Upper Consistory in Leipzig in 1793 and also a canon of Bishopric of Meissen and 1806 prelate.

His sons were the theologian Ernst Karl Rose Müller (1768-1835) as well as the physician Johann Christian Rose Müller ( 1771-1820 ).
