Johann Georg Wunderlich

Johann Georg Wunderlich ( born February 2 () 1755 in Bayreuth; ? † 1819 in Paris) was a German flutist, professor and composer.

Wunderlich was initially taught by his father, an oboist in the chapel of the Margrave of Ansbach. 21- year old, he took in Paris flute lessons with Félix Rault. 1778-1783 was Wunderlich member of the orchestra of the Concerts spirituels, 1781 also first, second, then first flutist at the Paris Opera ( until 1813 ). He also taught at the Conservatoire de Paris, founded in 1795, and had there from 1803 to 1816 held the sole Professor of Flute. Among his many pupils included Jean -Louis Tulou, Benoit Tranquille Berbiguier and Joseph Guillou.

1804 published Wunderlich based on preliminary work of his late colleague Antoine Hugot the Méthode de Flûte textbook du Conservatoire par MM Hugot et Wunderlich / Membres du Conservatoire. He also composed chamber music for flute in various occupations.
