Johann Hinrich Gossler

Johann Hinrich Gossler (* 1738, † 1790) was one of the leading bankers and merchants of Hamburg in the 18th century, and a member of the Hanseatic family Goßler. He was 1769 Co-owner of the trading and banking house Berenberg ( 1791 Berenberg, Gossler & Co. called ). He was from 1768 to Elisabeth, who ran a daughter of Johann Berenberg ( 1718-1772 ) and the sole heiress of the banker's family Berenberg, married. 1788 Goßler took his son Louis Edwin Seyler on as a new partner.

His son Johann Heinrich Gossler (1775-1842) was a senator and his grandson Hermann Goßler (1802-1877) first mayor. His descendants were ennobled in 1888 in Prussia as Berenberg Gossler and - raised in 1910 in a baron.
