Johann Rudolf Pfyffer von Altishofen

Johann Rudolf Pfyffer of Altishofen ( probably * 1615, † May 17, 1657 ) from the Lucerne patrician family Pfyffer of Altishofen was from 1652 to 1657 the 10th commander of the Swiss Guard. He served under the Popes Innocent X and Alexander VII

He gave 24 Katakombenheilige in Switzerland. Among them are Synesius in the town church Bremgarten, Damian, in Baden, Leontius in the monastery church of Muri, Placidus in Einsiedeln Monastery and Marianus and Getulius in Wettingen monastery.

He died of dysentery.
