Johannesburg Art Gallery

The Johannesburg Art Gallery is located in Johannesburg, South Africa Art Museum. It is located on the southern edge of Joubert Park in the city center, the urban region F.

History

The original collection of the museum from the estate of Sir Hugh Lane in 1910 was shown in London before it was shipped to South Africa. The wife of the mine owner Lionel Phillips, Lady Florence Phillips, contributed funds for her husband to an expansion of collections and donated their own collection of top. Building

The gallery building was not built exactly according to the plans Lutyens. The main entrance is oriented to the south, ie away from the Sun. Museum collections
