John Arderne
John of Arderne (* 1307 in Nottingham (); † 1392 in London, English: Sir John Arderne, sometimes John of Arderne ) was an English surgeon and is considered the first proctologist. He described in detail a method for removing bladder stones, which was long regarded as a reference. He worked among others with urinary tract infections and described the urethra cut.
Life
Arderne practiced from 1349 to 1370 as a doctor in Newark-on -Trent in Nottinghamshire and was then in London, where he was inducted into the Brotherhood of the surgeon.
