John Barrow (footballer)

John Barrow ( * before 1900, † after 1917 ) was an English football coach. He is the first coach in the history of FC Barcelona.

1917 Barrow was appointed by Hans Gamper coach of FC Barcelona. In previous years, the role of the coach was acquired simultaneously by the master. His first game he initiated on January 7, 1917 against FC Internacional in the Catalan Championship. Barrow remained for four months coach of FC Barcelona and coached Barça at 19 games, of which he won twelve and lost two. During this time he did not win a title with FC Barcelona. In addition, Barcelona has been excluded from the Catalan Championship in 1917, as they had with the use of the Argentinian Juan Garchitorena used a foreign player. That was forbidden at that time; as Barça lost the championship already believed to be secure. He was succeeded by his compatriot Jack Greenwell.
