John Bellenden Ker-Gawler

John Bellenden Ker Gawler - (* 1764 in Ramridge, Andover, † June 1842 ibid ), originally (before 1804) John Gawler, and later John Bellenden Ker and John Bellenden -Ker, was a British botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Ker Gawl. ".

He changed his name on November 5, 1804 in " Ker Bellenden " from, but often signed himself with " Bellenden Ker ."

His works include Recension Plantarum (1801 ), Select Orchideae ( 1816 ) and Iridearum generation (1827 ). Ker - Gawler wrote from 1815 to 1829 the texts for the first 14 years volumes of the illustrated magazine Botanical register and was then succeeded by John Lindley.

The plant genus Bell Dena R. Br was named after him.
