John Callen

John Callen (* November 4, 1946 in London) is a British- New Zealand actor, voice actor and director who became internationally known for his role of Óin in the Hobbit trilogy.

Life and career

Callen was born in London and attended high school in Blackheath. At the age of 16, he moved with his family to New Zealand. He worked at a radio station and had such contacts to sync. He spoke audiobooks and worked part-time as a journalist. He later played in theaters and also wrote criticism to stage games. In addition to synchronization works, he also commented on documentaries.

In addition to his acting duties Callen also served as a director. He directed several episodes of the series The Tribe.
