John Charles Herries

John Charles Herries PC in the literature often referred to as JC Herries (* November 1778, † April 24, 1855 ) was a British politician and financier.

He took from the beginning to middle of the 19th century, various government offices in Tory and Conservative Party governments was. During the Continental System, he was paymaster of the British Army. With the help of Nathan Mayer Rothschild, he was able to supply the British Army and its allies with gold. This played a significant role in the success of the British troops. For the House of Rothschild, this very risky supply laid the foundation for the rise of the most important financial institution in Europe. John Charles Herries in 1827 took advantage of the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer.
