John Child (volleyball)

John Child ( born May 4, 1967 in Toronto ) is a former Canadian beach volleyball player.

Career

Child played its first FIVB tournaments in the years 1991 to 1995 Edward Raymond Drakich. The best result was a fourth place in Miami. In 1996 he formed a new duo with his longtime partner Mark Heese. The two Canadians reached several times third places at the Open tournaments and won the 1996 World Series tournament in Berlin. In the same year she took part in the Olympic tournament in Atlanta and won with a victory against the Portuguese Maia / Brenha bronze. In the 1997 World Series, they were just ninth as two years later in Marseille.

At the 2000 Olympics Child / Heese occupied for a quarter-final defeat against Brazil Zé Marco and Ricardo Santos fifth. In the first round of the 2001 World Championships in Klagenfurt they failed again in Maia / Brenha. 2003 in Rio de Janeiro, the blow came in the preliminary round. Successful was the third Olympic participation in 2004 in Athens. The Canadians reached the quarter- final, which they lost to the later silver medalist Bosma / Herrera in three sets. The World Cup 2005 in Berlin, they had to end it prematurely because of an injury after the kick-off defeat against Sweden Mountain / Svensson.
