John Daugman

The mathematician John Daugman was born in the United States as the son of a Swedish mother and a Latvian in 1953 or 1954. He received his BA and Ph.D. at Harvard University and taught there also, until he went to the University of Cambridge in 1991. There, he teaches and conducts research as an expert in computer-assisted image processing at the Computer Laboratory.

His reputation in the scientific and industrial experts John Daugman acquired especially through his pioneering work in the biometric iris recognition. All currently ( 2007) available on the global market commercial iris recognition systems rely on his self-developed iris code algorithm.
