John DuCasse Schulze

Life

John Ducasse Schulze began his career in 1921 as a production designer in film in Hollywood, where he was initially responsible for a series of silent films smaller production companies such as First National Pictures. Frequently he was doing, directed by Edwin Carewe. Also, the two Mary Pickford films Little Anne Marie ( Little Annie Rooney, 1925) and My Best Girl ( 1927) distributed by, United Artists are among his works. From 1929 to 1932 he was employed by the Fox Film Corporation. After that he worked mostly for producer Edward Small. In 1941 he received his first Oscar nomination in the category Best Art Direction for The case of the missing Oliver Essex ( My Son, My Son ). In 1942 he was again nominated along with Edward G. Boyle for The hour of retribution ( The Son of Monte Cristo ). In the same year he was involved for the last time on a film production. He died in 1943 at the age of 67 years in Hollywood of a heart condition and was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.
