John Fred

John Fred ( born May 8, 1941 as John Fred Gourrier in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, † 14 April 2005 in New Orleans, LA). Formed his first band in 1956, this band he named John Fred & His Playboys.

History

The first single " Shirley " was released in 1958 and came to the U.S. charts at number 82 only

Nevertheless, the eight -piece band in their home state was so popular that they got a national recording contract. " John Fred & His Playboys " was the first album. Then, from the Playboy "Playboy Band", and the second LP " Agnes English " was released. This was coupled out of the song " Judy in Disguise ( With Glasses ) ". This plate was intended as a parody of the Beatles song " Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". She pushed another Beatles song ("Hello, Goodbye " ) from the top and was an absolute hit and million-seller.

After the next album " Permanently Stated " success was then. The band came up in the 90s in the southern states. John Fred was a producer and talent scout for new bands, coached the basketball team a high school and was an integral part in concerts and shows in his hometown. He was also the host of a popular local radio show: " The Roots of Rock'n'Roll". In 2002, his last LP, " Somebody's Knockin ' " was released. Shortly thereafter, he became seriously ill, and a resultant kidney transplant complications occurred. It was a long hospital stay, until he died in April 2005.
