John Garrison (ice hockey)

John Bright Garrison ( born February 13, 1909 in West Newton, Massachusetts; † 13 May 1988 in Lincoln, Massachusetts ) was an American professional ice hockey player and coach.

Career

John Garrison attended Harvard University, for their hockey team he played in parallel. He then worked in amateur hockey, before embarking on a career as a businessman. In 1973 he was honored with induction into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.

Internationally

For the U.S., Garrison participated in the 1932 Olympics in Lake Placid and 1936 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen as a player. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1933. At the Winter Games in 1932 he won with his team the silver, at the Winter Games in 1936 the bronze medal. In the 1933 World Cup, he became world champion with the U.S., where he scored the winning goal in the final match against Canada 2-1 in extra time.

At the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 in St. Moritz Garrison in charge of the U.S. national team as head coach.
