John George Bennett

George John Bennett (born 20 January 1891 in Dunnington, Indiana, USA, † November 20, 1957 ) was the first Bishop of Lafayette in Indiana.

Life

John George Bennett received on 27 June 1914, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Fort Wayne.

On November 11, 1944, he was named by Pope Pius XII. the first Bishop of Lafayette in Indiana. The Bishop of Fort Wayne, John Francis Noll, donated to him on 10 January 1945, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in the U.S. Military Ordinariate, John Francis O'Hara, CSC, and the Bishop of Owensboro, Francis Ridgley Cotton.
