John Hopkins (writer)
John Richard Hopkins ( born January 27, 1931 in London, England; † July 23, 1998 in Los Angeles, USA ) was a British screenwriter and playwright.
Life and work
His career in film began as a studio manager in the 1950s. For the BBC, he began to write screenplays and created among others the television series Z Cars. In 1965, he co-authored with Richard Maibaum the screenplay for the James Bond film Thunderball.
John Hopkins also wrote a number of plays for the stage.
John Hopkins has also worked as a director and staged alongside an episode for the series Thirty- Minute Theatre two feature films.
1996 John Hopkins Award for the screenplay for the film Hiroshima with the Humanitas Prize.
He was married twice, from two marriages comes ever a child. His second wife was the actress Shirley Knight.
