John III, Lord of Mecklenburg

John III, Lord of Mecklenburg ( * after 1266, † May 27, 1289 at Poel ). Was 1287-1289 Duke of Mecklenburg.

He was the son of Henry I and reigned 1287-1289 together with his Henry II under the regency of his uncle Nicholas III ..

He was ( 1315 † 9 August ), the daughter Wizlaw II of Rügen married to Helen of complaints since November 3, 1288 and had a child with her, Luitgard of Mecklenburg. He drowned while Poel and was then buried in Wismar Franciscan Monastery.

His daughter Luitgard ( to 1289 † 1352) was married in 1302 Gerhard II von Hoya.
