John J. Boylan

John Joseph Boylan ( born September 20, 1878 in New York City; † October 5, 1938 ) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1923 and 1938 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Joseph Boylan attended public schools, the Cathedral School, De La Salle Institute and the Manhattan College, all in New York City. He worked as a Postal Clerk and then went after real estate transactions. Between 1909 and 1913 he sat in the New York State Assembly and 1913-1922 in the Senate from New York. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1922 for the 68th Congress Boylan was in the 15th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Thomas Jefferson Ryan on March 4, 1923. He was re-elected seven times in a row. In 1938 he abandoned a bid again, but died before the end of his last term of office on October 5, 1938 in New York City. His body was then buried at the Calvary Cemetery in Long Iceland City.
