John Jamison Pearce

John Jamison Pearce ( born February 28, 1826 in Wilkes -Barre, Pennsylvania, † May 26 1912 in Conneaut, Ohio ) was an American politician. Between 1855 and 1857 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Pearce attended preparatory schools and then struck a theological career. At the age of 18 he was ordained as ministers of the Methodist Episcopal Church. As such, he worked in various cities in Pennsylvania. Politically, he appeared only in the 1850s as a member of the short-lived opposition party in appearance.

In the congressional elections of 1854 Pearce was in the 15th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of James Gamble on March 4, 1855. Since he resigned in 1856 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1857. This was marked by the events leading up to the Civil War.

After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives John Pearce worked again as a minister in various places of his home state. In 1888, he withdrew into retirement, he first spent in Lock Haven. He later moved to Conneaut in Ohio, where he died on May 26, 1912.
