John Jenkins (jazz musician)

John Jenkins ( born January 3, 1931 in Chicago, † July 12, 1993 ) was an American hard bop saxophonist of.

Jenkins played from 1949 to 1956 in Chicago, et al with Art Farmer and with his own bands. He came in the spring of 1957 to New York, played with Charles Mingus and has since worked as a freelance musician, but mainly for Blue Note Records. He took this year, numerous plates, as with Clifford Jordan, Jackie McLean, Teddy Charles, Hank Mobley and Wilbur Ware, and under his own name ( Jazz Eyes on Regent ). Then it was quiet around him. In 1990 he was involved in an album by Clifford Jordan.
