John Keenan (bishop)

John Keenan ( born December 19, 1964 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish clergyman and Bishop of Paisley.

Life

John Keenan studied at the University of Glasgow, where in 1988 he earned the Bachelor of Laws. He then studied at the Pontifical Scots College ( Pontifical Scots College) in Rome and graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University, the Licentiate in Philosophy and the Baccalaureate in Theology. On 9 July 1995, he received the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Archdiocese of Glasgow.

After tasks in parish ministry in 2000 Keenan university chaplain at the University of Glasgow in the year. Since 2013 he was a minister in Anderston and diocesan director of vocations ministry.

Pope Francis appointed him on 8 February 2014 Bishop of Paisley. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Glasgow, Philip Tartaglia, on March 19 the same year. Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh, Leo Cushley, and the retired Bishop of Paisley, John Aloysius Mone.
