John Kruesi

John Kruesi (actually Johann Heinrich Krüsi ) ( born May 15, 1843 in Heiden in Switzerland, † February 22, 1899 in Schenectady, New York ) was a mechanical engineer and longtime partner of Thomas Edison.

After his training as a mechanic in 1870 he emigrated to the United States. In 1871 he met Edison, who had just built a factory for stock ticker, a mechanical engineer and was looking for. Kruesi was instrumental in the construction of the phonograph, the light bulb and several companies Edison. Kruesi is also considered the inventor of the underground electric cable ( underground cable ), known as Kruesi tube.

One of the sons Kruesis in 1960 founded the " Walter Edison Kruesi Foundation " based in Herisau; the city of Chattanooga (Tennessee ) awards since 2001, " Kruesi Spirit of Innovation Award".
